Jane trained as a primary and secondary teacher subsequently teaching French and English to Secondary age children, and the core subjects of English, Maths and Science/other curriculum areas to children across the whole Primary age range. After the birth of her two sons she worked as a support teacher to children for whom English was a second language - later becoming Headteacher of the Support Service and 35+ teachers and teaching assistants. In 1989, she became area coordinator of the government funded 'Language in the National Curriculum' project and joined the advisory service of Berkshire LEA with special responsibility for supporting the teaching of English in 300+ infant, junior, primary and middle schools. As well as providing advice and support to schools, running parents evenings and workshops, organising and presenting training and conferences to teachers and schools, Jane also supported and moderated teacher assessments of children's attainment in English, Maths and Science, including SATs. She subsequently became an independent educational consultant working for Wokingham LEA, Windsor & Maidenhead LEA and Reading LEA; KS1 moderation manager and an OFSTED inspector of schools.
About Us
Owned and managed by Jane Wolsey, Reading 11 plus Tuition Centre provides preparation tuition sessions and classes for the CEM 11 Plus exam - an entrance requirement for Reading Boys School, Kendrick Girls School and other grammar schools in Berkshire.

Jane was formerly a member of Berkshire Education Authority Advisory Team with responsibility for supporting and advising teachers and schools on the teaching of English; Moderation Manager of SATS and teacher assessments of children's attainment in English, Maths and Science; University Lecturer; Educational Consultant and OFSTED Inspector of Schools. She has over thirty years teaching experience and over twenty years experience in supporting schools and training teachers and student teachers in the teaching of reading, writing, spelling, handwriting, grammar and English as a second language.

Jane has produced teacher support materials for the National Literacy Strategy and has been a consulting editor to a number of educational publishers including the BBC, Collins and Longmans. She has produced/co-produced numerous educational publications both in-house and for publishers such as Heinemann, with publications distributed worldwide. In Florida, USA, she organised and ran training courses for headteachers and teachers from schools across the state.

It is Jane's commitment that all children achieve to the best of their potential, through tuition based on assessments of current attainment/identified needs, and the appraisal and provision of the best materials available to support their learning and development. Such an approach ensures that children develop in confidence and in the ability to tackle English comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and Mathematical concepts - essential elements not only for the CEM 11 Plus entrance exam but also for their future learning and development in secondary school, college, university and working life.
