Easter & Summer Intensive Tuition/Courses
We are able to offer intensive tuition during the Easter and/or the Summer holidays to pupils taking the 11 Plus exam in the following September.
Courses for groups of ten pupils take place in Earley/Lower Earley and Woodley and run for one week at Easter and for four or five weeks in the summer holidays. Information about these sessions/courses, venues and fees are posted at the beginning of each academic year (September) when bookings can be made for the following Easter and Summer.

Whilst we are committed to helping children to receive the best possible results in the 11 Plus exam and SATS, we stress that our tuition sessions are designed to support children in developing the key concepts and skills of maths, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing and spelling - necessary requirements for the National Curriculum in Maths and English followed by children in British schools. As such, our tuition programmes are complementary to school National Curriculum programmes - supporting children in developing sound skills in Maths & English.

Tuition Sessions

We recommend that tuition, where possible, begins when children have just started Year 4. It is our experience that children who commenced tuition in Year 4 achieve better results in the 11 Plus exams and Year 6 SATs. Although these are our recommendations, we also offer sessions to children in Year 5 and Year 6.

We can provide tuition in the three key areas of the CEM exam - English (Verbal Reasoning), Non Verbal Reasoning and Maths or on one or two aspects of the exam such as English/Verbal Reasoning in which parents have decided their child needs additional support. This also applies to SATS tuition where parents may opt for both English and Maths tuition or either English or Maths.

Although we try to accommodate parents' preferences, places for one-to-one home based tuition and one-to-one tuition centre based sessions are very popular and therefore limited. Many are already booked for the academic year 2014/2015. If we are unable to offer a one-to-one place then we may be able to offer the next best alternative - tuition in groups of three. Our fee guide is provided below.

Fees
One-to-one tuition (home based)        24 per hour
One-to-one tuition (centre based)      22 per hour
Group tuition (group of 3)                    17 per child per hour
Class tuition (up to group of 10)          12 per child per hour
Home based tuition fees include a 2 supplement towards the travel time, normally averaging 10-20 minutes and fuel costs of the tutor.
All fees include tuition, basic exercise books including vocabulary and spelling notebooks, and loan of comprehension books.

Other books such as study books and workbooks, for example, CGP workbooks that support children studying for the CEM 11 Plus exam are supplied by us at discounted prices and must be purchased by parents, either from us or from other sources, as a requirement for booking tuition sessions. Full details of fees, exercise books provided and books required to be purchased are provided in our tuition information pack for parents, These are discussed with parents at the meeting following a child's assessment - prior to parents booking tuition sessions.
